The National Association of REALTORS® Executive Committee unanimously voted to approve a new strategic plan for 2026 through 2028 at the annual NAR NXT conference in Houston.

“NAR is rebuilding trust by executing the largest transformation in real estate history, and this strategic plan will be our roadmap,” CEO Nykia Wright said in a press release. “This plan is data-informed to ensure that NAR is investing in initiatives that members and the industry find most valuable. It also includes success metrics so our members and the industry can hold NAR accountable to the commitments we are making.”

The plan features NAR’s commitments to Realtor members, partners, consumers and the real estate industry as a whole, plus implementation strategies. Priorities outlined in the plan fall under two overarching categories: building the future member experience and modernizing the association.

Among NAR’s initiatives:

  • Helping Realtors strengthen their businesses with market insights, continuing education and new tech/tools.
  • Improving the Realtor brand by increasing access to data and creating new products and services.
  • Protecting Realtors from legal risk.
  • Advocating for fair property ownership policies at the local, state and federal level.
  • Reforming budgeting and resource allocation to improve effectiveness.
  • Defining and delegating roles and responsibilities among local and state associations.
  • Strengthening the Code of Ethics.
  • Attracting new Realtors to the profession.
  • Improving transparency and public relations strategies.

NAR’s new plan was informed by a survey of over 150,000 Realtor members in which respondents rated legal protection and trust in the REALTOR® brand as the most valuable priorities for the association.

The plan will be implemented on Jan. 1.
