Live in the country farmhouse of a celebrity sheep

by Emily Mack

Louie the Sheep is a local legend in Australia — and his rainbow-hued, modern farmhouse is up for sale. Located at 28 Hexham Street, this unique home offers colorful country life just 10 minutes outside of Newcastle, NSW. It’s currently listed for $886,790 USD.

Louie the sheep talks real estate commissions

Louie the Sheep has enjoyed life at his country home on Hexham Street since he was a lamb. And over the years there, he’s gained a large social media following. (A Google search will reveal he once met the beloved Scottish rock duo The Proclaimers!) But now, Louie is onto other furry adventures. Billing himself as a real estate agent in an online video, Louie says his commission for selling the house will be a single bag of chips. It’s quite the ambitious marketing campaign for a property that’s already extremely unique.

The house plans reveal a series of jewel-toned rooms, plus a greenhouse, workshop, fire pole, sky window and a large backyard — perfect for grazing livestock.

Speaking to the Newcastle Herald, an Australian outlet, current owner Rachel King confirmed: “We totally are going to give him a whole packet of chips… when he sells the house.” She also went on to describe the flare of this particular country home. “There must be a reason why every single house on the market is grey and beige and 17 shades of white, so you think ‘maybe people won’t like [the colors]’, but people really do,” she said. “Make it how you really want it.”

According to the Newcastle Herald, the home was scheduled to go up for auction on Dec. 3. On Special Finds, though, it is still listed for $886,790 USD.
